Every food that we put into our body is meant to give life back to us. Our food is meant to reenergize and revitalize every cell in our body in order to sustain wellness.
There are 5 common foods that can be implemented in our everyday wellness meals for optimal healing.
(1) Basil : This healing plant is considered to be antiviral, antifungal, antibacterial, and anti parasitic for our digestive, respiratory and nervous systems. Basil aids our body in healing from an overload with harmful parasites, fungi, viruses and bacteria. Basil is also considered an ally to help in transforming a bad mood into a pleasantly cheerful one. This beautiful herb is a natural anti-depressant and is known to uplift the spirit. In many cultures Basil is held to a high esteem for not only bringing in happiness but good fortune and prosperity in business. This healing plant aides in healing our bodies internally and externally, along with protecting our atmosphere from mosquitoes, flies and gnats. The lovely Basil can be used as a staple seasoning while cooking your favorite meal or a good additive to your skincare regiment. As you grocery shop remember to grab some basil, this herb is definitely been a staple in my kitchen.
(2) Cinnamon : Most of us are familiar with this wonderful and tasteful herb but many are not familiar with the healing aspects. Cinnamon's healing powers are antifungal, antimicrobial, and antidiabetic. I recommend cinnamon to many of my clients that battle with diabetes due to cinnamon's ability to respond to insulin in which aides in stabilizing the blood sugar levels. Cinnamon is also a strong antioxidant and aids in healthy blood flow within the body. Cinnamon supports digestion along with assisting women during the PMS time period. When women consume cinnamon tea during their monthly cycle, it helps relieve cramps, while normalizing and controlling heavy bleeding. Remember cinnamon is very warming and soothing in which aids in nausea, indigestion, and flatulence. Cinnamon is valuable to gut health. Don't be afraid to add cinnamon to your daily smoothies and herbal teas.
(3) Honey : America's sacred miracle and healthful sweetener. This lovely food is rich in minerals like calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, and zinc. Honey is also rich in amino acids. The enzymes from honey supports your digestive system along with supporting your metabolism. By regularly consuming honey, pollen induced allergy symptoms can decrease. This beautiful food is great for skin care, especially for a good restorative facial mask that works for all skin types. Honey is also a wonderful first aid treatment for burns due to its ability to draw moisture and soothe. Fun Fact, honey has been used for burns and wounds for millennia. Honey also helps reduce inflammation and redness of the skin. Honey is also well known for soothing the throat and aiding with colds and coughs. I add honey in my daily smoothies and herbal teas. So don't forget to add some honey in your life because its good for you.
(4) Rosemary : One of my favorite herbal spices to add while cooking. Also known as Rosmarinus, meaning "dew of the sea." Rosemary is known to increase memory and improve concentration. Ms. Mary is rich in antioxidants that strengthen the brain and liver. Rosemary can aids in helping with depression related to poor digestion such as IBS ( irritable bowel syndrome). This amazing herb helps with those who have digestive headaches that occur from either eating too much or consuming something that isn't good for you or something that doesn't agree with your body. For daily digestive support cooking with this herb is very helpful. Rosemary is also helpful for your hair health and growth. Add this herb as your go to.
